3 Meter Croc  Spotted on Umgeni River

Organisers of The Unlimited Dusi Canoe Marathon are still working with the Durban Umgeni Conservancy Trust (DUCT) and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in order to locate and possibly catch a crocodile that has been spotted along the Umgeni River.

Ocean bacteria won’t affect Dusi

In response to recent reports of a person having been infected by a flesh eating bacteria called Vibrio vulnificus while paddling in the ocean just off the Bluff, Metro officials confirmed on Thursday that the bacteria would not affect The Unlimited Dusi canoe marathon next week.

The organisers of The Unlimited Dusi Canoe Marathon announced on Wednesday that Working For Water, a subsidiary of Umgeni Water has won the battle against the hyacinth that blocked a large section of river at the top of Inanda Dam.

Efforts to rid the Umgeni River of hyacinth have been given a new breath of life thanks to the efforts of Working For Water, who have pulled out all the stops in the latest removal effort, bringing in a helicopter to spray the alien weeds.

Large crocodile spotted in the Dusi

There has been a crocodile sighting near the golf course above the N2 highway. The animal is estimated to be 2.5 metres long.
